A Season of Social Change and Community-Building!
One Voice Mixed Chorus’ 2011-2012 season is packed with powerful
music and a message of positive social change. Our season opens with
Brave Souls & Dreamers. An inspirational concert
celebrating the lives of visionary leaders who have challenged
prejudice and violence: Harvey Milk, Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa,
Judy Shepard and more. Featuring music by Bob Dylan, Holly Near,
Stephen Sondheim and the premiere of BraveSouls & Dreamers,
arranged especially for One Voice and inspired by the words of
peacemakers from around the globe! Directed by Jane Ramseyer Miller,
the chorus performed for our annual community outreach tour November
18-19, 2011, in St. Francis and Duluth, and will perform in the Twin
Cities on January 21 and 22, 2012, at Hopkins High School Auditorium in Minnetonka.
On April 2012, One Voice heads back to school! We’re launching an
expanded version of our OUT in our Schools program, and we’re
particularly proud to perform for the “Night of Noise” celebrations
that shine a spotlight on school bullying. More info coming soon!
Our season finale comes in June with Come Fly With Me: A GLBT
Romp Around the World. Join us for a spirited trip around the
globe! Travel tunes join indigenous songs in this musical travelogue
showcasing stories of GLBT communities worldwide. The concert
includes a fiery Argentinean tango, lush favorites from the Russian
choral masters, an encounter with faeries in Ireland, Bollywood
delights, heart-pounding African drumming, and sing-along favorites!
The concert takes place June 15 and 16, 2012, at the History Theatre
in St. Paul.
