OVation Article
"Ode to OVation"
OVation was born from a desire to increase One Voice Mixed
Chorus' visibility in the community by providing a more portable
extension of the chorus for smaller audiences in smaller venues.
In addition , performing in OVation allows singers a way to
develop their voices and performance skills by tackling
difficult music and performing as an a cappella ensemble.
In the past twelve months OVation has performed for more than
3,000 audience members at a benefit concert for Open Arms
Minnesota, a Hurricane relief fund-raiser, OutFront's GLBT Lobby
Day, a GLBT employee-awareness event for the Carlson Companies,
employees of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the Federal Reserve's
employee diversity day, the Minnesota State Fair, a baptismal
service, private parties, concerts and tour with One Voice, and
worship services of various denominations. By performing for
audiences all over the state, OVation is truly fulfilling the
One Voice mission of "building community and creating social
change by raising our voices in song.”
