Weaving Wisdom
Puppets, Poetry, Masks, and Music!
 One Voice Mixed Chorus, with creative assistance from In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre

One Voice worked with In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre (HOBT) on a concert titled "Weaving Wisdom." The music for the concert was chosen from texts that originated as poetry and now have become music.
We were thrilled to also include in this concert a collaboration with GLBT youth of District 202! In the fall of 2000, we organized a series of poetry-writing workshops for District 202 youth. Then we commissioned Twin Cities composer Jeanie Brindley-Barnett to shape their poetry into three new choral pieces which were the centerpiece for the concert.
Commissioned by One Voice Mixed Chorus, with support from GALA Choruses, the association of the international lesbian and gay choral movement, and SASE, The Write Place. This program is funded in part by a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council with funds appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature.
