The program included:
Visions/Dreams/Imaginings, commissioned by One Voice from the deaf and hard-of-hearing community, which was performed in American Sign Language and interpreted for the hearing. This was a ground-breaking work - perhaps the only time a hearing chorus has ever performed a piece entirely in sign language.
The Writings on the Wall, commissioned by One Voice from nationally-known composer Gwyneth Walker, which commemorated the tenth anniversary of the opening of the Berlin Wall
Verano Porteño, an Argentine tango, was performed with One Voice's trademark choreography. Audience members remarked afterward that the red-and-black costumes and dramatic pantomime were "visually stunning."
Naiman Sharag (The Eight Chestnut Horses) simulated galloping horses, a symbol of Mongolian national identity. The composer, Se Enkhbayar, was born in Inner Mongolia and One Voice performed the piece in Mongolian.
Parade was a whimsical celebration of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender identity on Gay Pride Day and throughout the rest of the year. One Voice singers marched into the auditorium decked out in every kind of rainbow-colored costume one could possibly imagine.
Something Inside So Strong expressed the hopeful and unquenchable spirit of the anti-apartheid movement of South Africa
...and more, of course!
