Give a Musical Legacy This Holiday Season
One Voice Mixed Chorus has commissioned composer Robert Seeley and lyricist
Robert Espindola to compose a mixed chorus arrangement of
Brave Souls &
Dreamers. This multi-movement work celebrates the lives of visionary leaders
who have worked to end violence, promote healing, and confront all forms of
discrimination in their communities, including homophobia. Inspired by the words
of Gandhi, Jesus, Mother Teresa, Isaiah, Jimmy Carter, Confucius, Buddha, and
the Qur’an, this commission was composed after 9/11 “in response to current
raging wars” as a powerful call for peace. This evocative, multi-movement piece,
which premieres at our concerts on January 21 and 22, 2012, is written
for chorus, instrumental ensemble, and four soloists including voices of the
Mother, Sage and two soldiers.
During this season of giving, your donation will allow us to share this
incredible work with an ever broader community. Contributions can be made in
your name or in honor or remembrance of anyone you choose. Make a dream come
true with a gift for the music lovers in your life! Multiple orders are
cheerfully accepted and you may order by mail, phone, or online. We’ll send you
a special holiday gift card acknowledging your contribution and provide you or
your gift recipient with a card outlining the donation and gift you have given.
A card describing your gift will be mailed to you (or your recipient) within
seven business days of your request, and the CD will be mailed early in
February.
One Voice singer Vicki Janisch-Tri and her husband, Jerry, have honored the memory of their beloved Aunt Cynthia by making a substantial financial contribution toward the total $12,000 cost of the commission. “I’m thrilled to help make this glorious work of music possible,” says Vicki. “The message of confronting hate really resonates with me, and my eyes well up every time I hear this gorgeous music.”
